Album Review: Trouble Man Heavy Is The Head by T.I.

The King of the South comes out with his 8th studio album. This album has a old school feel to it, as well as a new direction T.I. might take. The old school samples start from the beginning of the album, with "The Introduction". This track explains the whole theme of the album, which is that Mr. Harris will always be trouble and he doesn't care what you think. This mentality is continued for next 5 tracks(G Season, Trap Back Jumpin, Wildside, Ball, and Sorry). Track seven (Can You Learn) shows Tip's forgiving side by asking a certain women to forgive for his troubles. The next track is "Go Get It", which has that signature T.I. feel with a booming bass. The new direction comes on songs like "Guns and Roses" and "Cruisin" that show a different side of Tip, which is love. Songs like "Wonderful Life" and "Hallelujah" are by far the deepest songs the King has written. Both these songs show forgiveness and redemption, and "Wonderful Life" is a conversation that T.I. is having with his deceased father. The old school feel come back with Akon singing a portion of Elton John's "Your Song" on the chorus. Overall this album shows T.I.'s usual toughness, along with a possibility of a new step in his career. (5 out of 5 stars)

3 Kings by Rick Ross

My favorite song off the new album, dopeness!

Album Review: God Forgives, I Don't-Rick Ross

Rick Ross has always been one of my favorite rappers. His flexibility in the rap game has always made him a powerhouse in lyricism. His witty wordplay has transcended through every album, and this album is no exception. The laid back feeling to this album can be compared to his Deeper Than Rap album, which is my favorite Rozay album. He also has added gangsta rap elements to his songs like 911 and Hold Me Back. Most of this album has a very classic feel to it with songs like AshamedMaybach Music IV(this probably one of favorite song series in rap/hiphop ever), Presidential, and Sixteen. He also has a song like 3 Kings, which really shows that Rozay can be considered the greatest ever with guest verses from Hova and Dr. Dre. With a title like God Forgives, I Don't, this album goes above all expectations. (3 out of 5 stars)

Album Review: Living Things -Linkin Park

Wow. Linkin Park has changed. I remember back in their Hybrid Theory and Meteora days, they had so many copies sold and millions of fans. After that success they literally fell off the music world. With disappointments like Minutes To Midnight and A Thousand Suns, I was worried about the longevity of the group. Living Things has showed that Linkin Park is moving in a different direction, but still have reminiscence of old stuff. Songs like Lost in the Echo, Burn it Down, Victimized, Lies Greed Misery, and Powerless have that old flavor with new instrumentals. Then there is a song like Until it Breaks that is pretty much Mike Shinoda going ham over a trunk bangin beat. This album really surprised me, and I think it is come back for LP. We'll see what the future has in store for Linkin Park. (4 out of 5 stars)

Album Review: Self Made 2-MMG

When people think of Rick Ross they think of a fat, stupid rapper, who can't rap to save his life. That may be true, but this album has not shown it. The album starts off with the lyrically strong, Power Circle. This song showcases the lyrical talent of all the artists, along with Kendrick Lamar. Every artist has a memorable line, including Kendrick Lamar, who drops probably the greatest verse of his career. This song, along with This Thing Of Ours, Fountain Of Youth, The Zenith, and I Be Puttin On take me back to Rozay's Deeper Than Rap days. These type of songs are what define rap from any other genre in music. Not only does MMG have more of lyrical prowess than other groups, they also are hardcore G's. Songs like All Birds, Black Magic, Black On Black, and Bury Me A G have Teflon Don feel to it. The Maybach Music Group never ceases to stop showing their versatility in rap music. (4 out of 5 stars)
